2 weeks to go!

My baby is going to turn one in just
2 weeks!!!
Eeek she will no longer be an infant :(
she is going to be a toddler on the move :)
can already tell she loves it!

I have been practicing making her B'day cake :)

and been making a cute outfit for her photo shoot
next weekend!
also got a couple more things ordered for the photos

besides that her gift has been sitting in the garage waiting
for a couple of weeks now :/
I am an organized planner if you didn't know that already
have to have everything done/ready ahead of time.

have to perfect my frosting skills this week
have a good week!

Summer is here!

Wow it's been a whole month since I last posted
been so busy with house work, cooking, taking care of baby
after I am done with all of it all I want to do is go to bed!
So let me see if I can get you up to speed with everything...

So much has been going on... where to begin!

We have been planning out our landscaping options
had a couple of professionals come and give us estimates
working with one to get something done :)
Here is an example... (sorry have to tilt your head to the left :)

We are also going to be redoing the porch post
make it look less country/vintage and more contemporary
list of stuff to order has been prepared

We got estimates on kitchen countertops
still deciding if that is something we want to invest in
going to wait till we get the cabinets re-done
yes we will be staining them dark! with some fancy knobs
Here is a sneak peek :)
Before vs. After :)

My Aunt visited from India and made us a ton of food yummy :)
Our freeze is stocked full till her next return later this year :D

I can grow stuff we can eat! who knew! I sure had my doubts :)
well we have been getting salad leaves from the garden twice a week

Then our deck
we are fixing it up, going to stain/paint it...haven't decided yet
but it is going to look awesome once we are done :)
Sneak-peek...

Last but not the least baby is doing awesome
she has started crawling and pulling herself up
exploring all around the house and learning that there are boundaries :)

We are loving this summer weather
hope you are too!
Until next time Buh-bye! :)

Vegetable garden - 1

Here is baby Z watching dad mow the lawn
first of many times I am sure
...yaaaaay for spring!

We finally got started on the vegetable garden
after last year's failed attempts
I decided to not bother starting the seeds indoors and
decided to sow the seeds directly outside
I am probably too late anyways
Oh well...better late than never!

First the two shallow flower boxes that we bought
needed to be stacked.
In order to do that we have to take a bottom off of one of the boxes.

Before deciding on where to place them
we covered the bottoms with wire mesh to prevent any underground intruders

Then we ordered a bunch of organic dirt...

While the cats just lazed around...

Baby Z was not very happy about having to wear her hat
and she has learned that throwing things and then reaching to get them is fun!

A couple more bags of compost and we were done with the soil

Then I painstakingly added irrigation to my beds
and then added some lettuce, green onion, tomato, carrots, chillies, peppers and cucumbers :)

Now we will just have to wait and see
Hopefully something will grow :)

Our lil mover

Baby Z is 6.5mths old already
and this is a favorite toy for the moment
and I mean moment
She never is where I leave her, as you can see
she has learned to roll off the mat and rotate

Oh and she loves watching mommy cook :)

Baby food adventures continue...

I bought some larger trays to try and
freeze larger amounts of food for baby Z
I found these trays online...
And we decided to try avocado...
2 Avocadoes make a large batch...
The trays came with lids which is what makes them really nice
vs. using the regular ice cube trays...
In the full freeze it went
(Incase you are wondering that's Baby Z's liquid gold
we are at 7 full shoe boxes)
Here are her little avocado meals
came out just fine so I would give the trays my stamp of approval
And Baby Z is quite the adventurous happy eater...
4 foods done...on to the next...

Spring is here...okkk was here

We decided to take advantage of the wonderful weather we had last weekend
and drove to the beach
it is pretty awesome that we live 45 minutes from the shore

Unfortunately the wind was still too cold to get out of the car
But Baby Z loved it...
She got to feel the warm rays and the chilly breeze...
She seen birds for the first time...
A mommy and baby feeding the gulls...
And we got to spend some quality time together...
We often think about living by the beach
and what would be the pros and cons...

Maybe someday we will :)
Till then we plan to visit often

Hello 2013! We are back :)

Okay so it's been a while since I last blogged. So much has happened since September 2012...

Baby Z is 6mths! old. And she is getting increasingly mobile with each passing day.

Last Saturday we started solids. We went grocery shopping for healthy grains and used our awesome baby bullet (Thank you Aunt Vickie). We started with some brown rice...the bullet worked pretty well with milling the rice. Oh and baby Z loved the gruel mixed with some BM! I will continue to write updates as we try new foods.

BM=Breast milk....yaay 6 mths of ebf (exclusive breast feeding) while working full time for 3 of those months. Looking forward to another 6 mths...wish me Luck!

The weather seems to be getting a lot better a.k.a. warmer :) Hopefully I don't jinx it. The mom to mom sales have already started...the last three Saturday mornings that's where we have been hanging...yeah Grant just looks forward (NOT) to getting up early Saturday to go shopping for a couple of hours!

I absolutely love headbands...for Baby Z. And they come in such cute colors and flowers, been going crazy lately buying from some lady who makes and sells these out of her home as well as off of Etsy. I would love to make them myself...I know exactly how to and where to get the supplies and it would be a lot cheaper...but unfortunately I do not have the time. Sigh....someday maybe :)

Taking about no time - our weekend cooking and freezing for the month is working out pretty well actually. We no longer cook during the work week, just take out a portion size frozen meal, heat and eat. Love it! Our chest freezer is FULL...something we didn't imagine we could do.

I am so glad spring is around the corner can't wait to get started with some home organizational and renovation projects we have planned. Will get more into it that soon.
