Vegetable Garden - 3

Got a bunch of tomatoes from the few trees I planted
made some tomato sauce today

Even the dying cumber plants still has a bunch of cucumbers...

The Basil plant is full bloom...

The carrots they may never get harvested :)
no time!

The spring onions in the right planter box
grew so much better without being over crowded by the lettuce :)

Not sure what I am going to use all these chillies in...

I will miss the garden...
till next spring!

2 weeks to go!

My baby is going to turn one in just
2 weeks!!!
Eeek she will no longer be an infant :(
she is going to be a toddler on the move :)
can already tell she loves it!

I have been practicing making her B'day cake :)

and been making a cute outfit for her photo shoot
next weekend!
also got a couple more things ordered for the photos

besides that her gift has been sitting in the garage waiting
for a couple of weeks now :/
I am an organized planner if you didn't know that already
have to have everything done/ready ahead of time.

have to perfect my frosting skills this week
have a good week!

Getting there...

Hello everyone!

First of all...why is it so cold outside? :(
Fall here already... too soon!
Glad we got to enjoy the warm days this summer.

We have been trying to catch up on all the home reno projects
been making good progress....

The deck fix-up is complete...
And it got a much deserved scrub down
here is the before...
looks so clean now will remember to click a pic to post
maybe if it wasn't so cold outside

Kitchen cabinets are done!!!
hardware is up as well :)
It was a major undertaking we are so glad it is DONE.
Here is a lil peak...they look awesome!

We are in the process of selecting countertops
decided to go with HD laminate
it is the only option that makes financial sense for this house
We will be going with a light color
trying to get something that does not look anything like the current countertop
we have our fav picked
just getting a few details ironed out before the installation :)

We are still hoping to get the front yard landscaping done
but will probably do the planting next year
and just get the area prepped now

We found a painter to get the high ceiling/wall area done
just have to set a date with him

ekkks almost too many things and not enough time
between work, taking care of the baby and daily chores
not sure how everything is going to be scheduled

Will keep you posted with our progress.

Dress up time!

Baby Z had to dress-up at daycare

this is how I spend my *free time* :)

Super Hero day!
Meet super Z
even made her a cool belt and a cape :)

 Favorite Disney Character Day!
and you can guess who this is :)

I am working on some more cute stuff
for her 1st Birthday!!!
Super excited!

Home Reno update

Ok it's been a while since I last posted
over a month!!!
took me a while to recollect what the last blog was about

So let's see...
landscaping...Believe it or not...still working with the landscaper to tailor our project :)
the porch - is still where we left it
the deck - just a few railings away from being done...then just cleaning & staining
contacting painters...to get some of the interior hard to reach places done
renovation surplus...mess in the garage has been posted for sale online! just waiting now
Kitchen update....is on it's way to completion, staining is complete...poly coat left yaaaa!

Lately we have just been so busy with traveling for work
and watching Baby Z grow we haven't had a lot of time to get stuff done.
Hoping to get the kitchen and deck done soon and hopefully everything else as well :)

Here are all the kitchen cabinet doors drying in the garage :D
can't wait to have a complete kitchen again.

Vegetable Garden - 2

Really happy with my small scale vegetable production!
We are done with lettuce...who knew they could grow into trees!
We have carrots...

 Cucumbers...

Oh my what am I going to do with all these tomatoes!

Green onions...hmmm way more than we can use

 Chilies...more on the way...

Carrots are ready to come out...

Basil...

Lesson for next year: Use fewer seeds and add more variety :)

Almost forgot to show you my dual composter
just unwrapped it today!
still have to figure out how to use it right :)

Summer is here!

Wow it's been a whole month since I last posted
been so busy with house work, cooking, taking care of baby
after I am done with all of it all I want to do is go to bed!
So let me see if I can get you up to speed with everything...

So much has been going on... where to begin!

We have been planning out our landscaping options
had a couple of professionals come and give us estimates
working with one to get something done :)
Here is an example... (sorry have to tilt your head to the left :)

We are also going to be redoing the porch post
make it look less country/vintage and more contemporary
list of stuff to order has been prepared

We got estimates on kitchen countertops
still deciding if that is something we want to invest in
going to wait till we get the cabinets re-done
yes we will be staining them dark! with some fancy knobs
Here is a sneak peek :)
Before vs. After :)

My Aunt visited from India and made us a ton of food yummy :)
Our freeze is stocked full till her next return later this year :D

I can grow stuff we can eat! who knew! I sure had my doubts :)
well we have been getting salad leaves from the garden twice a week

Then our deck
we are fixing it up, going to stain/paint it...haven't decided yet
but it is going to look awesome once we are done :)
Sneak-peek...

Last but not the least baby is doing awesome
she has started crawling and pulling herself up
exploring all around the house and learning that there are boundaries :)

We are loving this summer weather
hope you are too!
Until next time Buh-bye! :)

More yummy food

Last week Baby Z started eating chicken
just took the yummy chicken out of the chicken curry I made for us
and ground it up, she loved it!
Decided that I wasn't going to feed her anything I would not consider tasty
or flavorful so since she started eating
she has eaten garlic, onion, chili, turmeric, garam masala
cinnamon etc. etc.
since she is still drinking her mommy's milk I hear that she already
taste pretty much everything I eat :) so I guess she was already familiar to this and a lot more
got to decide what to make for her next

Made some shepherds pie last week too
with mashed potatoes from scratch
forgot how good home made mashed potatoes can be mmmm.

Here we are trying to record a video message for our Chinese friend
quite the adventure :)
ended up with a really nice video.

Lanscaping - 1

We have been looking into sprucing up the curb appeal of our house
and so been surveying things we would like to have/have done...

Like these colorful trees

These lovely island kinda landscaping...

getting a few professional estimates in the coming week
to help us decide

For now we are enjoying seeing everything come back to life in our yard...

Guess what my veggie seeds have germinated! :)

Mom to mom sales

Today we hit one of the big Mom to Mom local sales
this was after doing an inventory of her closet
and realizing that we do not have any clothes that fit!

So on the left we have clothes that won't fit in a while
and on the right are clothes that will last a few more months
as you can see left > right
hence the need to buy more clothes :)

This is the second time we hit this sale
the last time was before baby Z was born
Here she is with the loot! and Miki checking it out

Not bad for 2.5 hours of shopping...
25 outfits + 7 sleepers + 4 pants + 6 headbands
all in really great shape, some still with their tags on
enough to get us thru the summer months and all for
drum roll....$87
That's less than $2.50 a piece...such a good deal!

Looking forward to having fun garage sailing this summer :)
