Lanscaping - 1

We have been looking into sprucing up the curb appeal of our house
and so been surveying things we would like to have/have done...

Like these colorful trees

These lovely island kinda landscaping...

getting a few professional estimates in the coming week
to help us decide

For now we are enjoying seeing everything come back to life in our yard...

Guess what my veggie seeds have germinated! :)

Spring is here...okkk was here

We decided to take advantage of the wonderful weather we had last weekend
and drove to the beach
it is pretty awesome that we live 45 minutes from the shore

Unfortunately the wind was still too cold to get out of the car
But Baby Z loved it...
She got to feel the warm rays and the chilly breeze...
She seen birds for the first time...
A mommy and baby feeding the gulls...
And we got to spend some quality time together...
We often think about living by the beach
and what would be the pros and cons...

Maybe someday we will :)
Till then we plan to visit often

Hello 2013! We are back :)

Okay so it's been a while since I last blogged. So much has happened since September 2012...

Baby Z is 6mths! old. And she is getting increasingly mobile with each passing day.

Last Saturday we started solids. We went grocery shopping for healthy grains and used our awesome baby bullet (Thank you Aunt Vickie). We started with some brown rice...the bullet worked pretty well with milling the rice. Oh and baby Z loved the gruel mixed with some BM! I will continue to write updates as we try new foods.

BM=Breast milk....yaay 6 mths of ebf (exclusive breast feeding) while working full time for 3 of those months. Looking forward to another 6 mths...wish me Luck!

The weather seems to be getting a lot better a.k.a. warmer :) Hopefully I don't jinx it. The mom to mom sales have already started...the last three Saturday mornings that's where we have been hanging...yeah Grant just looks forward (NOT) to getting up early Saturday to go shopping for a couple of hours!

I absolutely love headbands...for Baby Z. And they come in such cute colors and flowers, been going crazy lately buying from some lady who makes and sells these out of her home as well as off of Etsy. I would love to make them myself...I know exactly how to and where to get the supplies and it would be a lot cheaper...but unfortunately I do not have the time. Sigh....someday maybe :)

Taking about no time - our weekend cooking and freezing for the month is working out pretty well actually. We no longer cook during the work week, just take out a portion size frozen meal, heat and eat. Love it! Our chest freezer is FULL...something we didn't imagine we could do.

I am so glad spring is around the corner can't wait to get started with some home organizational and renovation projects we have planned. Will get more into it that soon.

Project Vegetable Garden begins...

To Grant's excitement the lawn mowing has commenced :)

The tulips did bloom just caught this one on camera
before it got cold and rainy outside

On a positive note
I started with my vegetable garden indoors...
Didn't realize how tiny seeds were
and they have a fixed number of them in each packet...
So I used tweezers and painstakingly planted each precious seed at a time
it took me a few hours well past mid-night
but got all of them done!
All done put them on a heated blanket to get it
to the warm 80 degree temperatures they need
And then gave them plenty of light for a couple of days...
TADA...the watermelon and tomatoes are out already
Yikes! it took them only 3 days
it was supposed to take longer
I guess we better get started on those vegetable beds
Hopefully the warm weather will be back soon!

Random side note:
We decided to try this crazy slushy magic cup
just FYI it works!

Gorgeous Spring!

It is so exciting seeing all the plants awaken from their long winter nap
Most exciting of all are seeing all the tulips bulbs grow
super excited!!! five of them have blubs that will open up any day now :)
The tree in our front yard also has new leaves...
The kitties love looking and listening to all the birds hopping and chirping
 The weather has been gorgeous
everything is green and so pretty...

It is time for me to start planting my vegetable seeds indoors
I bought tomatoes, watermelon, chilies, corn, lettuce and cucumbers :)
I hear these are the easiest to grow...especially since this will be my first vegetable garden
more on those planter boxes we plan to build to grow these veggies :)
Happy gardening everyone...

Spring must be here!

Finally the snow has melted and there are signs of life everywhere
check out the new buds in our little garden out front...
Oh and remember those bazillion tulips I planted in fall
my hard work is paying off
I counted 12 tulips budding out yippee! see them....

Speaking of spring
we are going to have a life changing experience ourselves
in September we will be welcoming a little baby!

Here I am at 13 weeks....just a lil bump
we aren't going baby stuff crazy yet
still a little early but
we did start thinking about colors for the nursery
going to keep it gender neutral and contemporary
So we went shopping for some fabrics to make some curtains and
 other nursery related stuff :)

On another exciting note now that I am not feeling sick to my stomach
we have started working on the master bathroom again!
Will post more on that in a weekend or so.

Happy spring like weather everyone!
