Master Bath Part 4

That's right there has been some progress
on the master bath reno
even during our relaxing holiday we got some work done
mostly just selecting, ordering and moving...

Look who's here....another truck
With our new (heavy) vanity :D
We thought we would move it upstairs
yeah right I could barely move it
so we took the mirror upstairs and waited for more muscles to arrive :)
But we just had to take a peek :)
that's right we did not get the vanity with the vessel sinks
see which one we got in this post
(Aunt Vickie we hope this is the vanity you were rooting for :)
A side view... can't wait to see it all installed :)
Some more exciting buys...
we bought the tub and moved it up ourselves
Had to stop midway to take a pic of course...
Love it!
Grant got some help and they moved the heavy ass vanity
up a floor....must have been 250lbs+
its up now and it's not going anywhere except into the bathroom that is
Oh and turns out a toilet is a lot heavier than a tub!
I can't help Grant move this either
so we might take it up in pieces or get help
for now it sits in the garage :)

Today we ordered all the faucets for the shower and tub...
it is all coming together
soooooon it will be all done
can't wait! :D

More to come...stay tuned...

Oh weekend...how you have changed!

Friday's used to be party time...well not this Friday. It was time to relax and get more soil.
Then we decided to do something inside the house like finish the half bath on the first floor.
We really needed to put in that toilet, walking up a flight of stairs every time you have to pee is just not fun!
Grant reading How to put a toilet together :) and Wiki being all sly edging his way towards the door hoping to escape.
So the last owner put the hardwood floor and now we couldn't slide the two long screws out :/
Good thing we didn't need to take them out after all we were able to just reuse them.
Yaaaay and it finally went up.
Wiki and I checked it out and gave it an A+
Oh and then we find out that we need to get a longer water line to connect to the flush cause the old one is 2 inches short....go figure :/

Saturday we went to a local festival, tried a new Thai restaurant, then our friends stopped by with their little baby. I should get some pics of him sometime, I keep forgetting. Maybe once he gets a little older.

Sunday we found an awesome plant nursery where we got these gorgeous purple Petunia flower baskets on sale. It was one of those buy one get one free deals.

Some blooming flowers in our new garden.

We also found these cool solar powered lights for $10. That has a bird, a dragon fly and a butterfly on it.
We put in the edging, covered the plants with some of the pots they came in making
it easy to pour the mulch on.
 Almost done...
 All done!
Now all we have left to do is add the stones to create our walkway :) The dead patch of grass
below is where the walkway will go.
Look at the pretty things light up. And they change color too! they are almost christmasy :)

The calm before the storm....what a weekend!

Well it wasn't a complete disaster...but we will get to that soon.
Good news - we got more stuff scratched off our list...and maybe added a few forgotten things.
Red = Just done
Green = Almost done

Last weekend went by really fast, I guess that tends to happen when you have a never ending to-do list.
Lets see, we started with planting some seeds using some free kits they gave out at work.
Sadly my Zinnia plant is no more, it was the first to germinate and i put them out on the deck to get more sun. I came back from work to find the pot empty! I think it was those darn birds :/ ate it all :( The tomato seeds and forget-me-not plant are yet to germinate.

Then we brought our big TV back upstairs from the basement since we spend most of our time up here anyway. And we don't want to buy a smaller TV for the living room just yet.
Then we decided to work on the sofa table. Because we found the wood planks on sale for like $4 a piece...so for under $20 we made an awesome shelf for behind the couch to act like a sofa table :) Can't buy a sofa table at that price!!!
I let Grant take a couple of pictures since everyone thinks I make him do everything since he is in all the pics i take. Well now you will see why I take photo's and he doesn't/shouldn't :P At least he tried :)
We had to level and level and level......

Decided to go with drywall screws hence the bright green wall anchors and a lot of measuring and marking...

 Almost done...

DONE....doesn't it look great!

Then remember the curtain fixtures that we painted a gray (mentioned in our last blog). Well we didn't like how it turned out, it was too dull. So we sanded all the rods and repainted it a shiny silver.
Turns out that they used to be silver once upon a time...it has received many coats of paint since.

Yet another coat of paint...like this one a lot better not as dull.

All done and shiny!

Then came time to mount all of it...
But then we could not find our curtains which we have seen somewhere but just can't seem to locate. We looked through all our boxes (or we think we did) but it was no where to be found :(

Then we did the sliding door curtain....

We just used the curtain that the last owners left behind...just gave it a good wash. The dining room windows got some cool looking shears that I found on sale on a trip i made to Lancaster PA.

Then we gave up on the curtains for the living room and as a temporary solution just put up the ones the last owner left behind.

That does it for curtains for now.

Then we finally got to the half bath on the first floor.
Grant suctioning out all the water...with a car gas suction pump (my brilliant idea). Anyway it was still gross!

The gross toilet is gone...now just have to put in the new water efficient one.

Then i took out our handy extension rod and painted what was left.

That's how we spent our Friday and Saturday.
